Santiago

After Talca, we drove on to Santiago de Chile. We had 3 days planned here to see the city, do some research and planning and do a day trip to Valparaiso. When we arrived the heat and strong sun hit us hard, after the ever changing weather in Patagonia. The first day we went walking around and of course stopped at the central fish market for lunch. Our expectations were high after having been to Sydney’s fish market. Maybe that was a mistake. The atmosphere was really nice, but the food was actually not overwhelming and quite expensive for that quality. I was quite disappointed with my grilled fish, but at least Mathias had something a bit special, choosing ‚Caldillo de congrio‘, the favourite dish of Pablo Neruda, which is a local fish soup. The rest of our time we then rather enjoyed fresh fruits and the cool shade in the parks while planning our next weeks.
