The Vineyards

After our 2 hours of whale watching in Hermanus, it was time to drive to the wine region. Our first stop was Franschoek,  which is a small town surrounded by mountains about 1 hour outside of Cape Town. We arrived just before for sunset and had a beautiful view over the valley. We stayed at a hiking lodge, where we could camp in the garden. It was a really lovely decorated place. We went for dinner in this cute little town and then went to bed early. The next day we started early with a delicious farmers breakfast and then started our tour of the vineyards. We spent the morning in Franschoek visiting 3 different vineyards and then drove 20 min on to Stellenbosch, the bigger and more known vineyard town in South Africa. We ended the day with a mouth watering 5 star dinner at one of the vineyards. And there again was one of the reasons travelling in South Africa is so wonderful. The dinner was comparable to a 5 star restaurant in Europe amd yet we only paid 40 EUR for a 3 course meal for 2 including a bottle of wine. The value you get for your money here is simply fantastic! It was a fabulous ending to our day in the wine region.
